Cochrane mayor Denis Clement confirms that his council is looking at closing the Polar Bear Habitat, the biggest tourist attraction in the District of Cochrane.

He says the municipality cannot financially afford to keep the facility afloat.  It’s running an annual deficit of about $400,000, which accounts for five percent of tax revenue.

A final decision will be made once public input is gathered at an open house on November 18.
