Treaty Recognition Week kicked off on Saturday, with a day of activities at the Timmins Museum.
Program coordinator Monica Towsley says it continues Tuesday night with the screening of the documentary “Trick or Treaty”.
She says it deals specifically with Treaty 9 territory, in which Timmins is located.
“And it’s just a film about a group of indigenous people that are fighting for their rights,” she outlines. “So it kind of informs you about what treaties are, and then showing what people are living through right now.”
Wednesday night has a dream catcher workshop for adults.
“Then on Saturday the 9th,” Towsley continues, “we’re having a dream catcher workshop for youth 7 and up. And they’ll be doing the same thing, learning about treaties and dream catchers and then creating their own dream catchers and that as well is free.
