93.1 Moose FM partners with Socks Timmins for the Santa Claus Parade

The Downtown Timmins Santa Claus Parade is the evening of Saturday, November 16th, and 93.1 Moose FM is teaming up with Socks Timmins for the big event.

Along with volunteers from Socks Timmins… your favourite Moose FM personalities will be collecting new socks from spectators lining the route.  Our shared goal is to fill the Moose FM cruiser.

Sock Timmins collects those socks for the homeless and needy in Timmins. Coordinator Carol Halt says that for “Socktober”, she put out a special plea for women’s socks.

“I do see more ladies’ socks coming,” Halt observes.  “But they do tend to be the ones that we are most short of.  So when people are out shopping, think about that as well, too, that the women and children are also in need, as well as the men in our community.”

Halt says the socks must be new.  And if you’re a knitter…

“We do take hand-knitted socks and they seem to be quite popular,” she says. “ So if there are people out there who have a hobby and would like to donate some hand-knitted, we’re happy to take them, as long as they’re unused socks.”

We intend to fill our cruiser to the roof with your donations.  And remember:  women and children need socks, too, not just men.
