How and why to make a will: tips offered

Among the many things that November stands for, it’s “Make a Will Month”, and Monday night at the Timmins Public Library main branch, you can learn all about how and why to make a will.

Library spokesperson Karina Douglas-Takayesu says three members of the firm Girones Lawyers will be on hand for the free event.

Takayesu calls some of the information “fascinating”.

“Some of the things you wouldn’t traditionally think of even when you’re associating a will, for example, blended families.  They’ll look at sort of the legalities,” she says.

Another area they’ll cover is digital assets.

“Let’s say somebody passes away and you’ve accrued a bunch of rewards points or you have even things like crypto currency investments,” Takayesu notes. “Are you going to lose finances when the accounts are no longer accessible?  Or even something as simple as your Facebook photos.”

The information session begins at 6:00pm.  No pre-registration is required.
