Skateway at Hollinger Park is a go for this winter

Not to rush winter, but we have two bits of related good news about Hollinger Park.

First is that the rehabilitation project will be finished by mid-November.  Next is the word that skaters have been waiting for.  We get it from Timmins Community Park Association media director Mark Rogers: “We can confirm that there will be a rink there this winter.”

The configuration of the skateway has also been decided.

“It’s not a figure-8,” says Rogers. “It’s going to be on the actual walking path around the park.”

You can see what that looks like on the billboards posted at the park.

Now that the rink is confirmed, Rogers says the park association is looking for volunteers to help operate it.

“Such as park monitoring, concession volunteers, ice safety monitors, fire pit regulators in the warming station, special events volunteers and more,” outlines Rogers.

Details on that are here.

Exactly when skating begins is entirely up to nature.
