Advisory committee chairperson wants to revive a tradition at the open pit lookout

The Hollinger open pit lookout is on top of a berm — not exactly a hilltop.  Regardless, it gives Helga Kroll the idea to revive and old Timmins radio tradition.

“Well, years ago, they used to have a Hilltop Rendezvous.  I want to have a Lookout Rendezvous,” she tells My Timmins Now Dot Com, after a bit of arm twisting in response to her saying she has an idea she’s starting to work on.

Just like the old Hilltop Rendezvous, the new radio show would invite people to dedicate a song while getting a good like at the mine.  This time though, it would be a song for a charitable donation.

“Run it every two weeks and pick a different… Living Space, the food banks, whatever and make that donation,” Kroll describes as part of her vision.  “But that’s still in the works, but it’s one of my projects I’m working on.”
