Opportunity for seniors to get health and wellness information

The Porcupine Health Unit is offering a series of health fairs for seniors this fall, in communities right across the region.

Public health nurse Natalie Vachon Ukrainetz says it’s a good opportunity for seniors to learn about available health and wellness services..

“Seniors don’t always know what services are available to them,” she notes. “So it’s kind of a way to get them out and about and to see what services they can access.”

The information is provided by guest speakers and at booths.

“The booths consist of health professions” she says, “so there’s like a dietitian, maybe a pharmacist, public health nurses.  We are also providing the flu vaccine to anybody who’s 65 years of age and over.”
