Ontario government and CUPE heading back to bargaining table

The Ontario government and the union representing the province’s education workers are going back to the bargaining table Friday.

The talks between CUPE and the government are meant to try and head off a strike currently set to get underway on Monday and are expected to continue through the weekend. Several school boards have said classes won’t be in session if the union’s 55-thousand members walk off the job as part of their contract negotiations.

The Conservative leader holds both Canadian and American citizenship, a fact that only came to light following a report in the Globe and Mail. On the campaign trail, Scheer is in Toronto, Liberal Leader Justin Trudeau is in Quebec City and the NDP’s Jagmeet Singh swings from Saskatoon to Thunder Bay, Ontario.
