Polar bears apparently love giant pickles. So “Picklefest” is planned for this week’s edition of Live at the Lakeside in Cochrane.
Recreation board chairman Shea Henderson says it’s all about raising money to supply them for the five animals at the Cochrane Polar Bear Habitat.
“Basically, they’re toys,” he clarifies. “They’re giant pickles but (Habitat staff) have seen these toys used for enrichment for the polar bears in other facilities and they want to try them with their bears.”
“They’ve got a pickle eating contest coming up. The whole menu that night is pickle-inspired. On top of that, they’re going to have a dunk tank as well.”
Live at the Lakeside runs every Friday until September 13th.
