Diners support the work of the Timmins Family Counselling Centre

The dinner crowd Monday night at Boston Pizza on Riverside Drive was helping support the Timmins Family Counselling Centre.  A percentage of the proceeds from food sales between 5:00pm ad 8:00pm went to the centre.

Executive director Tania Duguay says the non-profit centre counsels people for a long list of issues.

“We do a lot of individual and we do also as couples and a bit of family, but it’s a little bit of everything,” she outlines.

Clients can refer themselves, be referred to the centre by a family doctor,  or by another agency.

Duguay says not all counselling is paid for by government ministries or employee assistance programs.

“That’s why we have these fundraisers,” Duguay states, “to help fund when people cannot pay for the service, because we won’t turn people away.”

This was the first time for such a large fundraiser.  Duguay says she’s looking into other fundraising activities.
