There is now a unique way where local restaurants and non-profit organizations can get together to help one another out in the Cochrane District. www.foodrescue.ca is an easy one stop location that connects local businesses that has a surplus of food or food approaching best buy dates with local non-profit organizations. Trish Turner who is Community planning coordinator for  the Cochrane District Social Planning Council says the website is easy to use for both businesses and non-profit organizations. Turner says the process for non-profit organizations to get set up on the website is also very similar all they need is to say what type of food storage and space they have available and it matches them up with donors. Turner adds that this website will be very beneficial to food banks to get them better in touch with donors.
