Global Inclusion Day highlights Special Olympians

Tomorrow is Global Inclusion Day, and Special Olympians will be at Tim Hortons locations selling special donuts for the occasion.

Figure skater Julia Romualdi and powerlifter Monica Yates will be at the Tim’s on Algonquin Boulevard, near the overpass. Romualdi says they’ll be encouraging people to become involved with Special Olympics.

“Special Olympics creates special lives for people who have special needs,” she outlines.

Yates has advice for all of us on our attitude towards those people with special needs.

“Give them a chance before you judge them,” she says, “because they might be more advanced and better at things than you think.”

Yates adds that we should only judge people by their abilities, not their disabilities.

All proceeds from the donut sales will go to the law enforcement torch run or Special Olympics.
