UPDATE AUG. 21: A Highway Traffic Act charge of Carless Driving Causing Death has been laid against a 43-year-old Timmins woman. She goes to court Sept. 26.
UPDATE AT 3:00pm, Fri., July 19: Timmins Police report that the 70-year-old victim has died at TADH.
A man suffered significant injuries this morning when he was hit by a pick-up truck as he crossed Pine Street at Algonquin Boulevard.
As Timmins police investigate, communications coordinator Marc Depatie says they’re looking for witnesses.
“We do have some video,” he notes, “but it’s always enhanced with a person’s ability to provide their independent recollections of the event as it happened.”
The accident happened shortly after 8:00am, forcing closure of the main route through the city between Spruce and Cedar Streets for about four hours.
“The matter is under investigation,” Depatie adds. “We hope to have further details as they unfold. It has a technical aspect and that’s rather time consuming.”
