Digital Main Street Service Squad arrives in Downtown Timmins

Small businesses in Downtown Timmins now have the equivalent of a large corporation’s IT department —  at least temporarily.

The BIA has launched “The Digital Main Street Service Squad”. NEOnet is under contract to help businesses apply for a $2,500 grant. Phil Barton of NEOnet says it’s for upgrading their technology in order to be more competitive and grow.

“Anything to do with technology and perhaps social media as wel,” he outlines. “So that might include their presence with Google My Business or other social media platforms such as Facebook or Twitter.”

Barton says with no IT department, it can be difficult and time consuming to attempt all that.

“Small business operators already have enough on their hands to run their business,” he observes. “Taking time out to learn about and implement technology and social media can be very frustrating and we’re there to help them along.”

The grants are available through the Ontario BIA Association.
