Free fishing at Gillies Lake this Saturday

If you’ve never tried fishing or want to get back into it, you’ll want to be at Gillies Lake on Saturday morning.

The Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters will have its TackleShare program set up just outside the conservation authority office building.

Fishing program outreach liaison Taylor Stark says you can borrow a rod and get some bait… all for free.

“TackleShare program gives new and young anglers opportunity to go fishing at no cost,” Stark says.  “There are many barriers to introducing new anglers to fishing on today’s waters, so we’re breaking down those barriers and we’re getting people involved in fishing and trying something new and having some fun.”

“If you are under 18 years old, you do not need a licence.  If are over 18 years old or under 65 you do need a licence.  But you don’t need to purchase any of the equipment or bait”.

TackleShare runs from 8:00am until noon.
