A fun, colourful way to help the Seizure and Brain Injury Centre

June is Acquired Brain Injury Month, and as in the past several years, the Seizure and Brain Injury Centre in Timmins has a colourful plan to mark it.

Executive director Rhonda Latendresse says the five-kilometre “Colour It Up” event is set for Saturday, June 15th.

“People come out and they run around Gillies Lake,” she says, “and we have stations set up where we throw coloured powder on you and coloured water so that your lovely white T-shirt that we gave you with your entry fee gets covered in all kinds of amazing colours.”

It’s environmentally friendly – the powder is madke of corn starch.  Later, it might even wash out of the shirt.

“It can, depending how soaked you get,” Latendresse says with a laugh.

“Colour It Up” is the only event of its kind north of North Bay.

“We really appreciate the public coming out and supporting us because this is our major fundraiser of the year to keep our programs and services going,” Latendresse mentions.

Those progams and services are for hundreds of people.  Latendresse reminds us that anyone is susceptible to a brain injury.
