First Nations communities getting $150K

Ontario is putting some money into supporting First Nations communities. Around $150, 000 is coming into the Timmins James Bay area. The New Relationship Fund creates jobs and promotes economic development. The NRF will help Aboriginal communities hire staff, host industry meetings, and draft strategic plans.

The three groups who will benefit from the funding are:

The Mushkegowuk Environmental Research Centre to continue in its work to become a social enterprise and centre of expertise in environmental preservation, restoration and study.

The Moose Cree First Nation to build a public information website, and upgrade its data management system.

And, the Matachewan First Nations to develop tools to evaluate proposals for resource development.
