Plans are underway to build a crematorium right at the Timmins Memorial Cemetery.

Tomorrow night, city council will be asked to approve the sale of a piece of land in one corner of the cemetery for that purpose.

Administration is recommending it.

Previously, a plan by Lessard Stephens Funeral Home fell through.  The new proposal is a joint venture between Lessard Stephens and Miron Wilson Funeral Home, to be called Elmwood Crematorium..

Since the lot will not be serviced by the city, the recommended asking price for the property is just $19,125.
