Here’s a common occurrence every spring/flood season along the Mattagami River.
Timmins police communications coordinator Marc Depatie says that because of water on Norman Street, it is closed to general traffic — but only north of the bridge.
“Local traffic – those persons who live in the affected area – are allowed to use the roadway,” says Depatie. “Those persons with a legitimate purpose – if it’s a service technician attending to a service call – that type of traffic can use the roadway. All other traffic is prohibited from using that section of roadway.”
Again, that’s Norman Street, north of the bridge only. The rest of it south of the bridge from Cedar Meadows to Riverside Drive is open.
