MATTAGAMI RIVER, PORCUPINE LAKE UNDER FLOOD WARNINGS

The status has been upgraded on flood advisories for both the Mattagami River and Porcupine Lake… to flood warnings.

That word came late this afternoon from the Timmins Flood Advisory Committee.

David Vallier of the Mattagami Region Conservation Authority advises that the warning means that flooding is about to occur over the next 24 to 48 hours.  He’s especially concerned about Evans Street, Laffin Crescent, Bristol Road and Lakeview Road near Porcupine Lake, as well as low lying areas along the Mattagami River.

The city is assembling sand bags.  Look below to see where you can pick some up.

Sandbag pick-up locations:

Golden & Crawford, South Porcupine

Bristol Rd., South Porcupine

Mountjoy Arena, Park Ave., Timmins

Confederation Sports Complex, Cameron St. S., Timmins
