A passport office in Sudbury is not a full office as was reported earlier.

Rather the service has been upgraded and expanded.

The additional service includes a birth certificate feature where people do not have to surrender their birth certificates.

The office will still be located at the Service Canada Centre on Lisgar.

Nickel Belt MP Claude Gravelle has been pushing for the expanded passport services for years.
