HGS call centre marks 10th anniversary

There has been a call centre on Spruce Street South in Timmins for a while longer, but on Monday, it celebrated its tenth anniversary under the banner of HGS (Hinduja Global Systems).

Site director Danielle Williams can’t specify what its two clients have been.  Initially, the call centre provided customer support for a telecommunications company, before switching a couple of years ago to handling in-bound customer service calls for a Crown corporation.

“A lot different from telecommunications,” Williams notes, “however still the same customer service that we’re providing to our customers, just a different type of customer calling in.”

Chamber of Commerce president Nancy Mageau attended Monday’s cake-cutting and presented HGS with a milestone trophy to mark ten years in business.

Danielle Williams is confident in her call centre’s future.

“We’re working very well with the client that we currently have,” she says. “ They’re very happy with our performance.  So we have recently gone through negotiations with them to extend out that into the next few years.  So we’re very happy with that.”

The call centre has a workforce of 110 people, made up of customer service agents and support staff.
