International volunteers coming to Cochrane Polar Bear Habitat

The Cochrane Polar Bear Habitat will take on a bit of a United Nations flavour this summer.

Executive director Michael Honeth says it’s trying an international volunteer program involving students.

“We’re running a pilot program this summer and the interest has been amazing from around the world,” he explains.

“They’re coming from Argentina, France, England, Sweden. Yeah, all over.”

The volunteers will work with Habitat staff and the polar bears, learning about the animals.  They’ll also do more normal summer student work, such as guiding, property maintenance and night security.
