Keep your kids safe online

The Temiskaming OPP is raising awareness for next week’s Safer Internet Day. The initiative is to promote online safety, and to educate about protecting children online.

Police say the three main points to remember are inappropriate content, contact, and conduct. Monitoring websites, unplugging webcams, and limiting computer time are all ways suggested by the police to help keep kids safe.

They also recommend the THINK method for posting anything online. Is it true, hurtful, illegal, necessary, and kind.

Their final safety tip is to turn all geo-tagging off on social media, so potential threats can’t tell where photos were taken. There is  a full list of safety tips online at opp.ca
