Stompin’ Tom’s son to do tribute act in Timmins for Canada Day

The entertainment line-up is set for Canada Day in Timmins, taking place at Participark beside the Mattagami River on July 1st.  And what’s more appropriate for Canada’s birthday than a headline act that’s a tribute to Stompin’ Tom Connors by his son, nonetheless?

Tourism manager Guy Lamarche says watching Stompin’ Taw Connors will take you back.

“He’s very, very much like his father in every sense of the word,” Lamarche reports. “He looks like his dad, he talks like his dad, he’s got the plywood board, just like his father had.”

As Lamarche reminds us, Stompin’ Tom has deep roots in Timmins.

“He got his start at the Maple Leaf Hotel,” he notes. “And Taw was born here in Timmins and lived part of his life here.  So he’s no stranger to this community.”
