The federal government is going to be moving forward with the Ring of Fire sometime in the near future. That’s according to the Minister of Natural Resources, Greg Rickford.
Rickford says the North-South corridor has proven to have a lot of issues, and a private road isn’t the solution either. It doesn’t solve the access problem for small communities surrounding the chromite project.
First Nations communities and small towns have been talking and planning other options for infrastructure and access.
Rickford says the feds plan to make moves based on that input sometime soon.
The FedNor Minister also says they are hopeful the province is coming on board, to connect First Nations communites and smaller towns and cities surrounding the Ring of Fire.
