PLANS FOR CANADA DAY PROGRESSING

Canada Day will be another “freebie day” courtesy of the city of Timmins, according to its tourism manager, Guy Lamarche.

The daylong celebration of Canada’s 152nd birthday will run from 11:00am July 1st until 1:00 the next morning, at Participark on the banks of the Mattagami River.

A live concert is planned for the evening.  Lamarche says one band is already booked, but he’s staying quiet about that.

“There’s one more band that I’m looking to book and I should be in a position to announce who the line-up is sometime in the next couple of weeks.”

Lamarche is also confident of a spectacle in the sky that evening.

“I will be meeting with my colleague Paul Woodward in the next couple of weeks,” he says, “ to talk about fireworks and his ability to raise dollars to support a fireworks show.”
