WORKER AT TIMMINS SQUARE SAYS BOSS REPORTED GAS LEAK

A sales associate at the Body Shop in Timmins Square says it was her boss who alerted the fire department of a natural gas leak at the mall late Sunday morning.  Most stores there are only open from noon until five on Sundays.

Mackale St. Amour recounts what her boss did as she opened her store for the afternoon: “After opening the cashes, (she) thought it was probably time to call the fire department and let them know there was a possible gas leak.”

As St. Amour stood out behind the mall with other people who work in retail there, she said that Sunday is usually “a decent day” for business.

We only are open for five hours on Sunday,” she noted, “ so right now we’ve lost an hour of sales, so that’s going to affect the businesses here a little bit.”

The all-clear was given by the fire department about 90 minutes after the initial report.
