Tattoos the focus of latest exhibit at Timmins Museum

Art that gets under your skin will be at the Timmins Museum for the next couple of months.

The exhibit is called “My Story, My Tattoo”.  Program co-ordinator Meagan Sinclair says it was developed by the Wellington County Museum in Southwestern Ontario.

“It’s a photography exhibit, so it’s all these really beautiful photos of people and their amazing tattoos,” Sinclair explains. “And then to go with the photographs there’s also the stories behind these people and their tattoos.”

LIVE DEMONSTRATION AT OPENING

Sinclair notes that there’s a huge amount of talent behind producing tattoos, so it’s interesting to look at them from an artistic perspective.

You can do that this Thursday night between 6:00 and 8:00, at the official opening.

“We’ll be having Sahaja Freed,” Sinclair says.  “He’s a local tattoo artist coming in and talking about his work and his art style and then he’ll also be doing a live demonstration while he’s here.”

If you can’t make it Thursday night, “My Story, My Story” is at the museum during regular hours until April 23rd.
