ANGUS WANTS FED. HOUSING MONEY SPENT IN TIMMINS

Timmins-James Bay MP Charlie Angus wants immediate federal action on housing, and he wants it applied to Timmins.

The New Democrat was speaking late last week in the House of Commons.

“In Timmins right now we have from 800 to 1,000 homeless people in a city of 45,000,” Angus told Parliament. “Living Space, the homeless shelter is over capacity, the city is working full out, and the Native Friendship Centre is working full out.”

The NDP has presented a motion in the House, calling on the Liberal government to strengthen its commitment in its next budget to building 500,000 new housing units across the country.
