Write an essay, win a scholarship

There is $5000 worth of scholarship opportunities for Grade 12 students in the North. Northern Ontario Business is offering up two different scholarships, both in the form of essay contests. A three-thousand dollar bursary is up for grabs for any student, while $2000 is available for girls. The latter is the Young Influential Women Scholarship.

Northern Ontario Business is pleased to present our yearly Scholarships to all high schools across Northern Ontario. We have two fantastic Scholarship opportunities for Grade 12 students enrolling in post-secondary in 2015!

The Union Gas Essay Scholarship provides students with a chance to win a $3,000 Scholarship!

Students must submit a 2,500 word essay on the topic of ‘The future of energy – balancing the growing demand for energy with the need to reduce our impact on the environment. What can the education system do to effect change?’ In addition to the $3,000 Scholarship, the winner will be invited to an exclusive dinner and recognized at our annual Northern Ontario Business Awards. The essay submission process has been simplified and can be done online at noba.ca. The deadline for submission is Friday, April 24, 2015.

The second scholarship opportunity is the ‘Young Influential Woman Scholarship’. This scholarship opportunity is presented to females only, for the chance to win a $2,000 Scholarship! Again, students must submit a 2,000-2,500 word essay and may choose one of two topics. The winner will be invited to our Influential Women of Northern Ontario Awards Gala to celebrate their success in winning. The essay may be submitted online at influentialwomen.ca. The deadline for submission is Monday, March 16, 2015.

Northern Ontario Business encourages the use of this information throughout all high schools in Northern Ontario. Posting on bulletin boards, cafeterias, guidance offices and even school websites would be great places to heighten awareness of these two amazing opportunities for Grade 12 students across Northern Ontario.
