It comes natural to most drivers, and we’re all guilty of it at least once: Giving your car a bit more gas to get through a mound of snow in our way.
But Timmins Police communications co-ordinator Marc Depatie says that’s not such a good idea.
“Spin your tires, lose your traction is the old police equation that we use,” Depatie comments. “Punching the throttle on a wintry surface will cause you to lose control. Gentle acceleration ensures you remain in control of your vehicle at all times.”
