TAILGATING OUTSIDE A FOOTBALL GAME: YES. WHILE DRIVING: NO

The type of tailgating you might do at a football game is good.  But on-road tailgating is not, according to Timmins Police Service communications co-ordinator, Marc Depatie.

The advice for winter driving is different than for summer driving.

“Your following distance should be two-and-a-half times that of summer driving,” says Depatie.  “The winter rule of thumb is leaving two car lengths for every 15 kilometres of speed that you’re travelling at. So you have to do some quick math, but bear in mind the great ther distance between you and the vehicle you’re following, the better the chance you’ll reach your destination safely.”
