X-COUNTRY SKIING SINCE NOV. 10, BUT NOT A LOT LATELY

You can blame nature for the slow start to the cross-country ski season.

At Porcupine Ski Runners, skiers were out as early as November 10th.  But board member Mike Kornell says the trails have been closed this week, because of the above-zero temperatures and the rain. He likes the snow we’ve been getting since last night.

“So we fully expect over the Christmas period, over the next couple of weeks,” he remarks, “they’ll be fully serviceable for our skiing and snowshoeing going forward, so it’s just waiting for a bit more snow.”

“Certainly people are out there skiing,” Kornell adds, “ but it is on the thin side for the snow depth overall.  So skiers need to use a bit of caution, but certainly people that are comfortable on skis, it is being used right now.”
