Hometown comedian Derek Edwards has a performance in Timmins on January 19th, but you might be out of luck for tickets.
Promoter Rick Lemieux says 33 of the 37 tables at the Dante Club for the dinner and show sold in the first day.
Lemieux notes that Derek Edwards has been called “Canada’s best comedian” by none other than Rick Mercer.
“You know, he’s got a great following throughout the whole country, but especially here in Timmins. Whenever he comes to town, it’s something special, always sells out, people are so excited to see him.”
Anyone lucky enough to have a ticket will hear Edwards’ observational humour… no doubt infused with material about Timmins.
“Everywhere he goes, he’s always looking at the newspapers,” recounts Lemieux. “ He always brings in something about that community, wherever he’s performing. And a lot easier when he does it here in Timmins, of course, because he’s got family here and grew up here so yeah, it’s always a great show in Timmins.”
Moose FM is a sponsor of the January 19th show, which is a fundraiser for the Timmins Learning Centre.
