OVERNIGHT PARKING BAN PARTIALLY LIFTED FOR HOLIDAYS

Don’t worry.  Your car will not be towed away, if you leave it parked on the street in Timmins or in a municipal lot overnight during certain nights over the holidays.

Last night, city council unanimously passed a motion lifting the prohibition of on-street parking between 11:30pm and 7:30am on streets; and 10:00pm  until 7:00am parking lots.

Here’s the meat of the motion, as read prior to the vote by city clerk Steph Palmateer.

The motion is the brainchild of rookie Ward 1 Councillor Rock Whissell (wiss-SELL)

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT Council amends by-law 1983-2004 to permit parking on City of Timmins Streets and in municipal parking lots on December 25th (Christmas Day), December 26th (Boxing Day and January 1st (New Year’s day).”

The motion is the brainchild of rookie Ward 1 Councillor Rock Whissell (wiss-SELL), as a way for city residents to enjoy the holidays without worrying about parking or impaired driving.
