MP for Nipissing-Temiskaming on Thibeault’s defection to Liberals

The Conservative MP for Nipissing – Timiskaming is offering a twist on why New Democrat Glenn Thibeault defected to the provincial Liberals.

Jay Aspin believes it was getting harder for Thibeault to keep working with the NDP.

Aspin adds leader Thomas Mulcair didn’t make life any easier for him when he talked about re-introducing the gun registry.

Aspin says northerners never liked the gun registry as he found out when he ran for office three years ago.

Aspin doesn’t know whether high-ranking Liberals offered a bribe to clear the way for Thibeault to run.

But he does say the Liberals should take responsibility for the financial mess they’ve created in Ontario and stop blaming the Prime Minister.

Aspin believes talk of bringing back the gun registry by the NDP leader forced Thibeault to quit the federal party.
