OLYMPIC CHAMPION SPEED SKATER KLASSEN COMING TO I.F.

There’s a rare opportunity to meet an Olympic gold medallist, next month in Iroquois Falls.

Canadian speed skater Cindy Klassen will be there for an event on Friday, January 11th.  It’s being organized by Renaud Roy (Rwah), founder of faith-based organization “The Bridge of Hope”.

Following a roast beef dinner and interview session at the Legion Hall, the event moves over to the Jus Jordan Arena.  Roy says participants can skate with Klassen.

“They can just skate alongside with her and talk with her,” according to Roy. “She’s just open to that.  She’s a very, very humble person.  So I think it’s going to be a great opportunity for the community.”

Roy says Iroquois Falls is the only place in the region where Klassen will be.

“She’s actually coming straight to Iroquois Falls and back to Calgary,” he says. “ I’m picking her up in Timmins at the airport on Thursday evening and then Saturday morning, I’m driving her back to the airport and she’s going back straight to Calgary.”

Klassen coaches high-level speed skaters in Calgary.

Tickets are available at Fuddy Duddy Variety on Main St. in Iroquois Falls.  You can get more information by calling Renaud Roy at 705-805-0967.
