Anyone who gets their tap water from the municipal system in Foleyet is being advised not to use it, except for bathing and laundry.
A power outage knocked out the system. It’s been restored, but Public Health Sudbury & Districts says it shouldn’t be used until testing proves that it’s safe. A loss of pressure can cause a water system to become contaminated.
In a release, the health authority says boiling isn’t a sure way to make it safe. So for the time being, the tap water should not be used “for drinking; making juice, infant formula, or ice; cooking; washing uncooked fruits and vegetables; or brushing teeth.” It advises using bottled water. If you use it to make infant formula, it should be boiled first. Â
Although the water is safe for bathing, the advisory says small children should not be bathed in it, because of the risk of them swallowing it.
