That charity hockey game in Timmins in September between the Sudbury Wolves and the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies raised $10,000. It was handed over on Wednesday by United Way North East Ontariot the Timmins Youth Wellness Hub.
United Way regional manager Jen Gorman spoke to mytimminsnow.com about the donation:
“We identified that it’s a community priority, that the youth need a safe place and a safe space. So we provided the funding over to the Youth Wellness Hub.
“(The Hub provides services) available for youth,” says Gorman, “ usually happening about twice a week and often in different locations throughout the community. Various service offers, there’s always food offered, a lot of times if they’re at different schools, there’s an open gym and just a lot of activities for youth.”
