The North East LHIN has met with future doctors to discuss health care priorities in our region. The two students are from the Northern Ontario School of Medicine, and both plan to practice in the North East after graduation. This is the fourth year the Local Health Integration Network has partnered with the school to facilitate learning sessions for students. The LHIN oversees 1.4-billion dollars in local health care investments.

The two second year students with the Northern School of Medicine spent the day at the North East Local Health Integration Network (LHIN) in late December meeting with staff and learning about priorities for the region. As part of its strategic plan the North East LHIN is working to shift care to home and community providers, improve transitions of care and access, and access to mental health and addictions services.
