Before you left home this morning… did you clear all the snow that accumulated over the weekend off your car?
“You’ve seen this guy,” says Timmins Police communications coordinator Marc Depatie “Don’t be this guy.”
Depatie says officers call guys like that “portable snowstorms.”
That snow can impede your own ability to see traffic, and when it blows off, it can blind the driver in the car behind yours.
Depatie advises you to “take your time to allow your vehicle to warm up completely. Remove all excess snow from your vehicle while you wait.”
It’s not only courteous to other drivers, Depatie says not maintaining a clear view is illegal.
“So when you drive around without having taken the time to clear the snow off your vehicle, you could potentially run into a situation where you’re now confronted with a Highway Traffic Act offence.”
