Entire Gogama Fire Department Resigning

Gogama could be without a proper fire department in less than two weeks’ time.

The municipality is dealing with the fallout of a dispute between the Gogama Fire Department and the Gogama Local Services Board.

Over social media the Fire Department, led by Fire Chief Mike Benson, has decided to alert the community of its ongoing issues as far back as November 18th.

Benson has since gone on to post alongside fellow department members about reasons for his decision to officially resign from his duties on December 1st.

Alongside Benson, Deputy Fire Chief Christine Cloutier, Fire Prevention Officer Magda Benson and the entire volunteer crew will also be resigning due to what they consider mistreatment from the LSB.

Moose News reached out to both the Gogama Local Services Board and Fire Chief Mike Benson but did not receive a response regarding the issue from either party.

Currently the entire department is set to resign in nine days.
