Northern College Announces New Partnerships With Chinese School

Northern College has come together to sign a pair of new agreements with a Chinese partner school.

Northern College President Dr. Fred Gibbons says as part of the agreement with the Hunan Industry Polytechnic, students in China and staff will study their curriculum.

Gibbons says the faculty can come learn many techniques that we use in our classrooms that they can bring back to share in theirs.

The new agreement will allow the tradition of providing teacher education training as well as faculty and student exchange opportunities to continue.

Gibbons says there are also two new programs joining, Electrical Engineering Technician and Motive Power technician-Automotive Service, both of which are two-year diploma programs.

He says they want to ensure that the Chinese students are receiving the same quality of education that Canadian students would, so that their Northern College Diploma’s in China have the same respect and integrity they carry here.

Both signed agreements still must be reviewed by the Chinese government before the programs can commence, and the first intake is expected in 2020.
