City Installs New Accessible Swing at Hollinger Park

New playground equipment is being installed this week at Hollinger Park.

The City of Timmins says as part of the remediation work it is updating the playground to comply with accessibility regulations.  The city says the new soft playground surface has been installed and this week crews are putting in a new accessible swing set. Other remediation projects for this week include:

  • The entire park and parking lot are now closed for construction. There will be no public access to the park, other than at the Cenotaph
  • The pump house water line is now installed;
  • Work on the grandstands continues
  • Further remediation work continues at the north side of the park

The remediation work is underway because previous tests showed elevated metal levels in the park’s soil. Timmins council has a five-year plan to update the park.

The city says the recent rain has slowed down the project. It says it will continue updating you on the ongoing work being done at the park.
