RIDE Campaign Kick-Off

The Timmins Police and the OPP have officially launched their Holiday RIDE Campaign. At yesterday’s kickoff, Police said they were pleased that no impaired driving charges were laid last week. RIDE lanes were out in the Connaught area last Friday, and that trend is one they hope to continue.

OPP Sergeant, and President of the Timmins MADD Chapter, Steve Meunier, says calling in a suspected impaired driver is important. He says it is way for officers to pinpoint locations and possibly get impaired drivers off the road quickly.

Meunier says four Canadian drivers are killed per day because of impaired driving. He says the act is criminal and preventable. If you do suspect an impaired driver, call 911.
