A new youth initiative is officially kicking off this month.

The Youth Wellness Hub, aimed at bringing youth together in a safe space, is launching it’s programs on September 29th. The organization says youth aged 12 to25 will be able to connect with others and access activities, resources and services to support their well-being. It says the goal is to have the hub operate twice a week in various locations throughout the Timmins area to make sure the youth in all the communities have the chance to get the help they need. This includes:

– Being welcomed by your peers
– Having access to caring and confidential counselling services, peer mentorship, and other mental health resources
– Grabbing a bite to eat and enjoy a hot drink
–  Having an area for a quiet space to do homework, lounge in a comfy chair with a book, or take some time to unwind with art and mindful activities
– Playing basketball, volleyball and badminton

The Hub has teamed up with various other organizations in town to run workshops, host events and help with councilling services.

The launch event will run from 12:00am until 9:00pm on September 29th at O’Gorman High School.
