Patients evacuated from hospital in Attawapiskat

Patients have been evacuated from the Weeneebayko Hospital in Attawapiskat. An issue with pipes forced the evacuation, sending patients to the hospital in Moose Factory. MPP for Timmins James-Bay, Gilles Bisson, says he hopes the problem can be fixed quickly.

Bisson also says part of the problem is getting maintenance work done in the North.

The issue is with a new pipe connected to the hospital sump, which has split. All the sump material has now contaminated the crawl space underneath the hospital.

Patients have been sent to the hospital in Moose Factory. There are also temporary emergency services set up in the ambulance base in Attawapiskat.
