News Mayor and Council have been sworn in SHARE ON: Taylor Ablett, staff Tuesday, Dec. 2nd, 2014 Steve Black has officially taken over as Mayor. At last nights inaugural council meeting, Black and the council were sworn in. In his speech, Black says his mandate is to make decisions that put the residents of Timmins first, by planning and restructuring to prepare for the closing of Kidd Operations in 2021. He went on to say the closure can’t be underestimated, as it is one of the city’s largest employers, with about $3 million in assessments. The next council meeting is Monday Dec. 8th at 6 PM.
