If you see a document online titled “Cost Estimates for Timmins New Multi-Use Recreation Centre”, it’s fake.
According to the City of Timmins, this document has been circulating in online forums. However, it is confirming that the document never originated from the City and that the numbers being quoted are not the right ones.
If you come across the documents online with no signing authority or contact information and are questioning whether it’s real, please contact the City CAO Dave Landers or Corporate Communications Coordinator Heather Duhn (contact information for each provided below).
The original preliminary cost estimate done during the feasibility study and presented to Council on July 11th 2016 can be seen here.
A final design was presented to Council on August 14th 2018. If a future Council decides to move forward with the project, the preliminary cost estimates would be updated with the new information in the final design.
